LeRoy Tipton
LeRoy Tipton has a broad background in manufacturing, sales, service, and consulting businesses, and in faith-based organizations. He has been the Chief Operating Officer for the Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce since May 1988. This strong chamber serves Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Cosmopolis, and Grays Harbor County on the coast of Washington State. As the Chamber’s President, LeRoy is responsible for leading the Chamber in accomplishing the Chamber volunteer Board of Director's ambitious Plan of Action that incorporates Business Development, Chamber Development, Community Development, and Workforce Development. His roles include Leading/Managing; Program development; Marketing; Leadership Development, Public Policy Development and Public Affairs.
A special area of present Chamber sponsored involvement for LeRoy is assisting businesses and community agencies in Workforce Training, One-Stops, and the very successful Grays Harbor Chamber Business Assistance Project, partnered with Workforce Grays Harbor.
LeRoy is a certified trainer with the Edge Learning Institute. An active speaker, instructor, and consultant, LeRoy is often asked to speak for organizations, conferences, and banquets. Through his business, New Millennium Quality Leadership Challenge, his consulting duties include conducting strategic planning sessions and retreats, boardsmanship and leadership training. He also facilitates groups and organizations, and assists small business start-ups. LeRoy is particularly skilled in leading organizations in discovering their vision, values, mission, and goals. A favorite past time is to serve as a volunteer auctioneer for charities.
LeRoy has been honored in several editions of the Daily World's Best of Twin Harbors. He has received their “Readers' Choice Awards” for Best Harbors’ Ambassador; and Most Admired Harborite; and has been runner up in the Favorite Male Harborite; Best Non-elected Official and Best Community Activist categories. The Aberdeen newspaper reported, "As a champion communicator and advocate for advancement on the Harbor, (LeRoy) has made an impression...Tipton strives successfully to keep communication strong between businesses and the community... Many know Tipton as the Harbor's `People Person'… LeRoy Tipton is a man who strives for this community to do well economically and overall. A tireless worker, he never hesitates to give of himself, and never stops wanting the best for all Harborites.”
In his leisure time LeRoy enjoys photography and horse training. He and his wife of more than 40 years, live on a small ranch along the Wishkah River near Aberdeen, WA where they breed and train Missouri Fox Trotter horses. The Tiptons take delight in their church involvement, grown children, grandchildren, English Bulldog, Boxer, and gaited horses.
