2006 HOLIDAY BONUS BUCKS!

Many THANKS to all of our Harbor residents who "Shopped the Harbor First" this holiday season!  The fifth annual Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce's Bonus Bucks auction took place on Saturday, January 13th, 2007, at the Miller Junior High School gymnasium.  Successful bidders took away wonderful prizes from the event from dozens of local area merchants.  A total of $522,482.00 of receipts were redeemed for "bucks" prior to the event!  Denise Flannigan was the lucky winner of the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino get-away, and the Swanson's shopping spree was won by Debbi Rowell.  CONGRATULATIONS!!

SEPTEMBER 2006-BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

Grays Harbor Chamber Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Grays Harbor Radio, Located at 1308 Coolidge Road, Aberdeen, as Business of the Month for September 2006. In Business for 78 years Grays Harbor Radio has been involved in the community in many ways. These include; Grays Harbor Chamber Executive Board and Board of Directors, United Way of Grays Harbor, 24 Hour Relay for Life, Food Ball, and S.N.A.P. (Students Needs Assistance Program) to name a few. Only 12 awards are handed out each year chosen from over 600 businesses. Grays Harbor Chamber is pleased to announce GREAT NORTHWEST FEDERAL CREDIT UNION as August 2006 Business of the Month! Located at 301 West Wishkah Street, Aberdeen, phone number 360-533-9990. Great Northwest Federal Credit Union has been in business for 53 years. They support many organization including local schools, Salvation Army, Food Ball, SCouts, Red Cross and the Relay for Life. When asked why the Chamber was important, Karen Burkhalter explained, "The Chamber is an important part of the local business growth because of the training and support they offer all business." Congratulations to Harbor Physical Therapy on your new location at 220 West First Street, Aberdeen. This is a huge expansion from their old location on Broadway. The ribbon cutting was a huge success. Congratulations again to Jill & Patrick Wilson on your new location.

JULY-BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

The Grays Harbor Chamber Business of the Month is based on Excellence in:  Image of the Busines of the Community; Exployee Relations; Community Service; and Chamber Support and Chamber Service.  Only 12 awards are handed out each year chosen from over 600 businesses.  Grays Harbor Chamber is pleased to announce THE GRAYS HARBOR PUD as July 2006 Business of the Month! Located in Aberdeen at 2720 Sumner Avenue, phone number 532-4220. The PUD has been in business in Grays Harbor for 66 years and a Chamber member for many years. They are a Gold Leaders’ Circle Sponsor, involved with United Way, local schools, Food ball, Cancer walk and many other non-profit organizations and events. Many of their employees are graduates of Leadership Grays Harbor. They also are involved in various service organizations including Rotary and Lions Club. When asked why the Grays Harbor Chamber was important they stated “It is a driver of economic development and community involvement.”

Located in Aberdeen at Michigan and State Street, phone number 532-4000. The Daily World has been been a chamber member for 100 years and in business for 117. In the past they  have supported in either time and/or dollars many non-profit organizations including: United Way, Salvation Army, Relay for Llife, and Food Ball to name a few. They also support the chamber as a sponsor for both the bonus Bucks Auction and the Trade Show along with printing the Business of the Month announcement free of charge each month. When asked why the Chamber was important John Hughes, Editor and Publisher replied, "It is the key agency promoting 'Shop the Harbor First' and rallies support for key economic development issues."

New Business Ribbon Cuttings! Congratulations and WELCOME to these new businesses on the Harbor!

Everett Hughes, E.A. (enrolled agent) had a ribbon cutting on April 18, 2006. ONLY ONE MORE DAY 'til Conference time!  The Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce continues to demonstrate its support of the growing field of women in the workforce by presenting the third Professional Women's Conference. Keynote speaker will be Sunny Kobe Cook, former CEO of Sleep Country USA.  Speaking with Sunny are Marcia Brixey, author of Becoming a Money Wi$e Woman: Getting Your Financial House in Order and Val Baldwin, professional speaker, trainer and certified Life and Relationship Coach.  The Thursday, May 4th event that will take place at the Aberdeen Museum of History promises to be an informative and fun day providing valuable information and important networking opportunities.  The cost is only $100.00 for members and $115.00 for non members.  For more information and a registration form, click here.

A ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday, March 1, at Every Bloomin' Thing at 502 West Pioneer, Montesano.  Valerie Sullivan, the new owner since December 2005, is a graduate of Career Floral Institute.  Her employee, Karen Lamb has over 20 years experience in the floral industry.  since taking ownership, they have been busy painting and revamping the interior.  Along with floral arrangements of all types as well as bridal services, they sell custom hand-crafted lamps, gift baskets, collectibles, and Indian artwork.  They can be contacted by phone at 249-2789 or

Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Grays Harbor Vision Clinic as the March 2006 Business of the Month.
