QIN Summer Youth Employment Opportunities
June 2016 - The Quinault Indian Nation employs Tribal youth ages 14-18 for approximately six weeks during the summer months typically starting July 5 and runs through August 26. The purpose of our summer youth employment program is to provide real-world work experiences in various sectors of government and business as well as teaching them about positive work ethics and being responsible for their time and job duties. Additionally, once the youth worker has some experience in a business environment, they may become a potential future employee for that business.
Our program recently expanded to include our Tribal youth who reside in the Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Montesano communities. At this time we are looking for job placements within the greater Grays Harbor area for our youth to work during this timeframe. The Quinault Indian Nation will provide the wages, assume liability (worker’s compensation) and conduct pre-employment screening and orientation of the QIN’s policies.
What we would request and expect from any business or entity that is willing to provide a job placement is the following:
1. Provide a brief job description of duties along with a job title;
2. Provide an internal orientation (specific to your own guidelines for the particular job);
3. Provide guidance and supervision for the youth worker;
4. Track, report and verify the hours worked on the time sheet we provide;
