CaKecaKes Gourmet Treats named September Business of the Month
October 2017 - The September Business of the Month award was presented by Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) to CaKecaKes Gourmet Treats. The award presentation took place on September 5, 2017 at their Aberdeen storefront.
Since CaKecaKes first opened its doors to the public five years ago, owner Brittany Figg’s goal has been to create beautiful, unique baked goods and treats for the community right here on the Harbor. Along the way, Brittany has given back to many non-profit organizations in the area including donating extra cupcakes to the Union Gospel Mission; participating in Food Ball and giving to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and other non-profits. CaKecaKes also partnered with the Seattle Children’s Hospital to bring the Seattle Seagals to her shop for the community to meet.
Having been a member of Greater Grays Harbor for the past year, Brittany sees value in being a part of the organization. “Being involved with GGHI is important [to us] because it gives us the opportunity to have contact with other businesses and support them when needed,” said Brittany. CaKecaKes also stays connected with the community by mentoring local students and business owners.
Owning a small business in Grays Harbor means that Brittany has the opportunity to be a role model. “I love being able to see the change we help create as a small business in the community. It has given us a real opportunity to step up and give back to the community,” said Brittany.
